Dress Code: Funky Formal Attire
If you feel good about your knowledge of formal attire, great! If you are like Zach and Cat and have to google dress codes before every wedding, here is a more detailed guide to our vision for guest attire. Please don’t stress; the goal of this page is to make things easier for you!
Formal is between black-tie-optional and cocktail on the dress code scale; think “sophisticated.” Fancy, but with more flexibility than black-tie. We love an excuse to get dressed up, and hope you do as well. We know this is a February event, but we love and welcome fun colors, prints, and accessories/embellishments for all guests! Don’t be afraid to add a little whimsy to your fashion: colorful shoes, patterned ties, and/or statement jewelry are all great additions. We just ask that you don’t wear white (or something that will photograph as white).
Women: Floor-length or ankle-length gowns, elegant cocktail dresses, dressy pantsuits, or sleek jumpsuits.
Men: A traditional suit is appropriate—no tuxedos. Bowties, regular ties, and no-ties are fine. Many guides suggest wearing suits in darker colors, but we welcome fun/brighter colors as well! A white button-down shirt is okay, just please no white jackets.
